About the position

The Coordinator of Professional Development and Training at Penn Medicine plays a crucial role in enhancing the skills and competencies of pharmacy staff within a complex academic environment. This full-time position focuses on developing training programs, overseeing professional development initiatives, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, all while fostering collaboration and engagement among staff to achieve departmental and health system goals.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a professional image and provide optimal pharmacy service and leadership development initiatives.
  • Create and teach both individual and group training activities to improve pharmacy service and support professional development.
  • Partner with service line areas to develop competency programs for various patient populations.
  • Act as the primary contact with pharmacy schools for experiential training programs.
  • Coordinate academic experiences for pharmacy technicians with the technician trainer.
  • Support program directors of PGY1 and PGY2 Residency Training programs and their integration with pharmacy staff.
  • Monitor compliance with accreditation standards for training programs.
  • Chair the Residency Advisory Committee and direct program improvements.
  • Participate in initiatives for patient/employee safety and validate annual competencies required for the position.
  • Build relationships with pharmacy staff and implement teaching strategies for career development.

Requirements

  • PA Pharmacist licensure (Required)
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science or PharmD (Required)
  • More than 5 years of Hospital Pharmacy or Academic Experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in teaching/education and training of new staff, students, and residents
  • At least 3 years of Hospital Pharmacy Experience or Academic Experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Board Certification in Pharmacy or other area of expertise (preferred)
