About the position

The Coordinator of Research Programs will oversee and manage all administrative, business, research, editorial, and development activities for the Denmark Laboratory in the Department of Chemistry and multiple faculty in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of research activities, compliance with safety regulations, and effective communication among faculty and research staff.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the preparation and submission of research grant proposals to various granting agencies.
  • Plan and coordinate financial and scientific reports to campus offices and federal agencies.
  • Prepare, edit and submit scientific journal articles.
  • Assist in tracking and management of manuscripts for editorial responsibilities for scholarly series.
  • Manage the research resources of the laboratories, including managing all purchase requests and assisting faculty in oversight of research activities.
  • Handle all research correspondence and manage all organizational tasks relative to the research programs.
  • Oversee monthly group progress reports, track productivity, and schedule monthly meetings.
  • Assist faculty in assuring compliance for all safety training and laboratory safety audits.
  • Interface with F&S to address all maintenance issues with laboratory infrastructure.
  • Coordinate service and maintenance of all laboratory equipment with various manufacturers and service organizations.
  • Coordinate specialized equipment training as needed.
  • Prepare letters of reference and sign documents as directed by faculty.
  • Establish and maintain confidential records and files for faculty, including maintaining faculty's contacts and CV.
  • Manage printing of theses, postdoctoral reports, internal photos, journal articles, and other printing requests for faculty.
  • Maintain and update group websites in conjunction with ATLAS Business Administration.
  • Manage complex portfolio of faculty funds, including analysis of monthly financial statements.
  • Assist with graduate student and postdoctoral associate payroll appointments.
  • Assist with faculty calendar scheduling and complex travel arrangements for invited lectures and conferences.
  • Coordinate personnel management processes for group members, including aiding with visas and hiring paperwork.
  • Manage records of group vacation/sick days and submit approvals by proxy.
  • Coordinate postdoctoral and student travel for conferences and submit reimbursement requests for travel and other research-related expenses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a related field.
  • Two years of professional business, financial, and/or managerial work experience (Master's Degree may substitute for one year of experience).

Nice-to-haves

  • Two years of professional level accounting, managerial and/or business experience.
  • Knowledge of database concepts and budget analysis.
  • Proficiency in word processing programs, website templates, spreadsheet operation, and presentation software.
  • High level of initiative and judgment, excellent communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention-to-detail.
  • Ability to work efficiently by multi-tasking with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Benefits

  • Budgeted salary range of $53,000 to $59,000.
