About the position

The Coordinator of Special Projects and Grants Writer at Lawson State Community College will play a crucial role in securing funding through local, state, and federal grants. This position involves managing special projects, advising faculty and staff on grant proposal preparation, and ensuring compliance with funding agency requirements. The Coordinator will also be responsible for developing relationships with funding agencies and maintaining grant schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Generate revenues for college programs through timely submission of well-researched grant proposals.
  • Research and identify funding prospects to match College priorities.
  • Generate high-quality proposals and supporting documents in response to solicitations.
  • Provide support in proposal preparation and coordination for grant submissions.
  • Compile progress and technical reporting requirements with the Principal Investigator.
  • Serve as the Principal Investigator as directed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with funding agencies.
  • Maintain primary responsibility for grant schedules and tracking grants.
  • Serve as a liaison to funding agencies and organizations.
  • Research, develop, write, and submit letters of inquiry and grant proposals.
  • Coordinate and follow up on the progress of submitted proposals.
  • Coordinate with the Business Office to create budgets for proposals and projects.
  • Develop and maintain a master file on grants and contracts.
  • Stay updated on current issues related to grant proposals.
  • Meet regularly with faculty/staff to discuss funding needs and provide training on grant writing.
  • Develop and publish grants manuals including policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution (Master's Degree preferred).
  • Three years of experience writing grant proposals.
  • Demonstrated track record of securing grants.
  • Experience managing grants processes and working with local, state, and federal entities.
  • Experience in managing special projects, budgets, and financial data.
  • Highly skilled with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
  • Ability to represent the College professionally and respond to inquiries effectively.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and meet deadlines.
  • Effective organizational and time-management skills.

Nice-to-haves
