About the position

The Coordinator of World Language is responsible for overseeing the implementation of world language programs within Frederick County Public Schools. This role involves providing support to school administrators, faculty, and staff, ensuring that necessary resources are available for effective teaching and learning. The Coordinator will also facilitate staff development and collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance the educational experience for students in grades 6-12.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the point person for division-wide initiatives in relation to world language.
  • Develop and update 6-12th grade instructional materials including curriculum guides, objectives, and content specification documents.
  • Provide guidance in the selection of textbooks and other instructional materials for the assigned program.
  • Prepare and monitor the program's digital resources, materials, and budget.
  • Participate in collaborative meetings and provide guidance for diagnostic assessments and division assessments for grades 6-12.
  • Analyze and interpret assessment data to inform SOL remediation plans and provide support as needed.
  • Develop and manage the budget related to the areas of responsibility.
  • Participate in state academic review processes to support schools in maintaining accreditation.
  • Develop and facilitate professional learning for teachers and principals in the content area and effective instruction.
  • Work collaboratively with K-12 coordinators to develop curricular goals emphasizing K-12 alignment.
  • Support principals and teaching staff to ensure continuity and articulation of the instructional program.
  • Provide ongoing instructional coaching and professional learning for educators in the content area.
  • Collaborate with team members to support each school's Plan for Continuous Improvement and the division's Strategic Framework.
  • Represent the school division on local and state committees for educational projects and initiatives.
  • Stay updated on current research in instructional coaching, leadership, and equitable practices.

Requirements

  • Virginia postgraduate professional teaching license
  • Master's Degree in curriculum and instruction, administration and supervision, or related field
  • Minimum of five years successful teaching experience
  • Administrative or supervisory experience preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of world language curriculum and pedagogy
  • Leadership qualities necessary for working with diverse employees and the public.
