About the position

Junior Achievement of Central Maryland is seeking a Coordinator for Operations & Volunteer Services to support the operational functions of the office and coordinate the scheduling and placement of volunteer resources. This role is crucial as it involves managing the coordination of approximately 5,000 JA program volunteers annually, ensuring that the organization runs smoothly and efficiently. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, possess exceptional organizational skills, and have a strong sense of initiative. They will also need to demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a passion for supporting educational initiatives and youth empowerment. In this position, the Coordinator will be the first point of contact for Junior Achievement, setting the tone for the volunteer and visitor experience. Responsibilities include maintaining the volunteer portal for seamless registration and stewardship, researching and identifying prospective volunteer groups to build new partnerships, and collecting volunteer data according to established processes. The Coordinator will also provide administrative support in the main lobby, manage the organizational master calendar, and support board and committee meetings with materials duplication and catering coordination. Additionally, the role involves monitoring office supplies, coordinating vendor visits, and ensuring the functionality of major office equipment. The Coordinator will assist with data entry, note-taking, report pulling, and other tasks as requested by the Operations team. This position is ideal for someone who is friendly, outgoing, self-motivated, and driven, with a strong customer service focus and the ability to work well as part of a team. The work environment is fast-paced, requiring flexibility and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Manage coordination and scheduling of approximately 5,000 JA program volunteers annually.
  • Maintain volunteer portal for seamless volunteer registration and stewardship.
  • Research and identify prospective volunteer groups to build new partnerships.
  • Collect volunteer data according to established processes and standards.
  • Provide administrative support in the JA main lobby including visitor and volunteer check-in.
  • Manage organizational master calendar and all needs related to room rentals and reservations.
  • Support organizational needs related to board and committee meetings including materials duplication and catering coordination.
  • Monitor inventory and orders office supplies; coordinate vendor visits as needed.
  • Monitor functionality of major pieces of office equipment, including laminator, copier, and postage machine.
  • Assist with data entry, note taking, report pulling, and other tasks as requested by Operations team.
  • Assist with prospecting organizations for possible funding or volunteer support.
  • Support other general operations support as needed.
  • Assist JA team with other programs and events, as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2 years working in an office environment.
  • Strong oral/written communication, organization/planning, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with CRM systems and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Customer service focus and ability to work well as part of a team.
