About the position

The Surgery Operations Coordinator is a key role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Operating Room (OR) and ensuring high standards of surgical services. This position acts as a liaison between OR management, surgeons, and the surgical team, optimizing the OR schedule for efficiency and effectiveness. The coordinator is expected to manage staffing, patient concerns, and process flow while implementing care plans and evaluating patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily operations of the assigned area, including staffing and throughput.
  • Synthesize data from assessments to identify problems and formulate care plans.
  • Implement nursing interventions within legal and ethical parameters.
  • Evaluate and report patient outcomes compared to benchmarks.
  • Facilitate communication and relationship building among stakeholders.
  • Create and monitor staff assignments in coordination with the Anesthesiologist.
  • Oversee daily functions and approve schedule changes.
  • Serve as a resource for staff regarding equipment and supplies.
  • Assist in the orientation of new staff with the Educator.
  • Identify problems and assist in resolutions using problem-solving techniques.

Requirements

  • Current State of Texas License as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Associate's degree in nursing (ADN) or diploma required; BSN preferred.
  • One year of leadership experience preferred.
  • ACLS certification required; CNOR certification preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  • Experience in quality improvement and conflict management.
