We are looking for a Lab Coordinator/Block Retrieval Coordinator (40 hours per week) in our Elmwood Park, NJ location. The Block Retrieval Coordinator handles requests from our clients to obtain a specimen that is located at an outside facility for testing to be done at Genpath. Requests are also received from other labs for unstained slides on a GenPath case. The Block Retrieval Coordinator also obtains Flow results performed at remote locations and matches them to the case received. Under the general supervision of a supervisor, the Block Retrieval Coordinator and the NGS Processor perform all work in a prompt, accurate, and reliable manner according to established company and departmental policies and procedures. The position requires a strong ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a high level of accuracy. The Block Retrieval Coordinator will package and ship boxes, register and accession cases, prepare specimens to go to the lab, handle completed cases, add-on testing, and cancellations. It is essential to understand and comply with CAP requirements and HIPAA regulations, as well as to notify accounts of any delays. The role also involves maintaining patient files, training others, and reviewing and responding to emails. This position is critical in ensuring that specimens are handled properly and that communication with clients and other labs is maintained effectively.
