About the position

The Coordinator, Project/Program (Restricted Funds) position at Mt. San Antonio College is designed to support the Rising Scholars Program, which aims to assist students impacted by the criminal justice system through education. This role involves planning, organizing, coordinating, and providing oversight for various projects and programs that cater to students who have recently been released from incarceration or are currently incarcerated within the district. The Coordinator will work closely with students to help them navigate four educational pathways: High School Diploma/GED Completion, Career & Technology, Associate Degrees, and Four-Year College Transfer. The position requires a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all students, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds. Under general supervision, the Coordinator will provide routine administrative and operational support for assigned projects, evaluate program effectiveness, and make recommendations for improvements. The role also includes developing and maintaining program records and reports, as well as planning and coordinating outreach efforts to promote the program. The Coordinator will be responsible for training and guiding staff, participating in budget processes, and ensuring the effectiveness of programs through stakeholder engagement and data collection. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles, and will advocate for these values within the college community. The position requires excellent communication skills, the ability to analyze and interpret data, and a commitment to providing high-quality customer service to students, staff, and community members. The Coordinator will also participate in various committees and special assignments, contributing to the overall mission of the college to support student success in a diverse and equitable environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate assigned projects, programs, services, and/or activities; recommend improvements or modifications; assist in developing and implementing procedures and policies.
  • Provide training, orientation, guidance, and scheduling to assigned staff; review and control quality of work; participate in the recruitment and selection of temporary staff.
  • Participate in developing goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards.
  • Participate in the budget process, including monitoring expenditures and ordering supplies, materials, and equipment; assist in forecasting annual payroll and program budget requirements.
  • Plan, evaluate, coordinate, and provide training at various events, workshops, and outreach and recruitment activities.
  • Ensure project and/or program effectiveness by identifying stakeholders, gathering data and information.
  • Conduct needs assessments, and implement modifications based upon program evaluation results.
  • Promote programs, projects, services, activities, and events through various communication modalities; assist in developing promotional materials.
  • Research, compile, analyze, and organize information and data on topics related to assigned projects and/or programs; prepare and assemble reports and other informational materials.
  • Serve as a liaison and contact person to stakeholders; provide higher level of customer service and consultative services related to project and/or program.
  • Promote an environment of belonging as it relates to diversity, equity, inclusion, social justice, anti-racism, and accessibility.
  • Provide quality customer service when interacting with the public, vendors, students, and College staff, including individuals from minoritized groups.
  • Support and abide by federal, state, local policies, and Board Policies and Administrative Procedures.
  • Participate on committees, task forces, and special assignments, including, but not limited to Screening and Selection Committees and mandated trainings as required.
  • Prepare and deliver oral presentations related to assigned areas as required.
  • Perform general administrative functions.
  • Perform other related or lower classification duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to an Associate's degree from a regionally accredited college.
  • Two (2) full-time equivalent years of increasingly responsible experience working in an educational environment or public program.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with policies and procedures relating to diversity, equity, inclusion, social justice, anti-racism, and accessibility preferably in a minority serving institution such as Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANAPISI).
