About the position

The Coordinator, Project/Program position at Mt. San Antonio College is a vital role within the Rising Scholars Program, which aims to support students impacted by the criminal justice system. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and providing oversight for various projects and programs that assist students who have experienced incarceration or are currently incarcerated. The Coordinator will work closely with students to help them navigate their educational pathways, which include options such as High School Diploma/GED completion, career and technology training, associate degrees, and four-year college transfer pathways. The role requires a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all students, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds. Under general supervision, the Coordinator will provide administrative and operational support for assigned projects, evaluate program effectiveness, and make recommendations for improvements. The position involves developing and maintaining program records and reports, as well as planning and coordinating outreach efforts to promote the program. The Coordinator will also be responsible for training and guiding staff, participating in budget processes, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures. This role is essential in promoting an environment of belonging and equity, aligning with the college's mission to support diverse student populations. The Coordinator will engage in various activities, including conducting needs assessments, preparing reports, and serving as a liaison to stakeholders. The position requires strong communication skills, the ability to analyze data, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The successful candidate will advocate for the college's vision and work collaboratively with various departments to enhance the educational experience for students impacted by the criminal justice system.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate assigned projects, programs, services, and/or activities.
  • Provide training, orientation, guidance, and scheduling to assigned staff.
  • Participate in developing goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards.
  • Participate in the budget process, including monitoring expenditures and ordering supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Plan, evaluate, coordinate, and provide training at various events, workshops, and outreach and recruitment activities.
  • Ensure project and/or program effectiveness by identifying stakeholders and gathering data and information.
  • Conduct needs assessments and implement modifications based on program evaluation results.
  • Promote programs, projects, services, activities, and events through various communication modalities.
  • Research, compile, analyze, and organize information and data on topics related to assigned projects and/or programs.
  • Serve as a liaison and contact person to stakeholders, providing high-level customer service and consultative services.
  • Promote an environment of belonging as it relates to diversity, equity, inclusion, social justice, anti-racism, and accessibility.
  • Participate on committees, task forces, and special assignments as required.
  • Prepare and deliver oral presentations related to assigned areas as required.
  • Perform general administrative functions and other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to an Associate's degree from a regionally accredited college.
  • Two (2) full-time equivalent years of increasingly responsible experience working in an educational environment or public program.
