About the position

The Coordinator of Recycling/Shred Operations at Emory University is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Emory Recycling Center, ensuring safe and efficient recycling processes. This role involves managing equipment, maintaining records, and supporting the handling and shredding of confidential documents. The coordinator will also serve as a liaison for environmental health and safety issues and collaborate with team members to facilitate recycling services across the Emory enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain the Emory Recycling Center building facility and equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, repair, overhaul, disassembly, reassembly, and modifications to Recycling Center equipment.
  • Maintain required record-keeping on all major equipment related to the Emory Recycling Center.
  • Process and support the handling and shredding of confidential documents.
  • Serve as a liaison between Emory Recycles and the Environmental Health and Safety Office in the absence of a supervisor.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Emory Recycles Recycling Center.
  • Collaborate with team members to support and facilitate recycling services.
  • Support recycling pickup and drop-off activities.
  • Ensure safe handling, processing, and storage of recycling materials.
  • Work with supervisor to ensure accurate weights on bales and bulk commodities.
  • Process materials through a bill of lading system to reconcile weights and payments.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and cleanliness levels at all times.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Four years of experience in an operations or logistics role in recycling, waste management, document shredding, or related industry.
  • Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds.
  • Current Georgia Driver's license and an insurable driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a NAID certified facility.
