About The Position
Cold Spring Harbor Lab is seeking a Scientific Operations Coordinator to oversee the logistics involved with all scientific operations in the teaching laboratories used for the course program. This role is crucial in ensuring that all aspects of the scientific operations run smoothly and efficiently, allowing for a productive learning environment for students and instructors alike. The coordinator will be responsible for interfacing with various stakeholders, including instructors, teaching assistants, and multiple departments such as IT, facilities, and audio-visual services. This position requires a proactive approach to managing the logistics of course operations, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are procured and maintained in good working order. In addition to logistical oversight, the Scientific Operations Coordinator will co-manage the summer Course Aides, which includes recruitment during the winter months. The role also involves coordinating the procurement of equipment and supplies for the program, as well as managing donations and loans of equipment from vendors or local and remote laboratory storage. The coordinator will implement inventory control systems to track course-related purchases and ensure that all equipment is accounted for and maintained according to service contracts. This position is integral to the success of the course program, requiring a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
