About the position

The Sport & Youth Programs Coordinator at Old Dominion University is responsible for the operation, development, and growth of sports and youth programs within the Recreation and Wellness department. This role involves program scheduling, staff supervision, advising sport clubs, training officials, managing risks, overseeing budgets, and ensuring player eligibility. The coordinator will also engage in parent communication and may need to work during university closures, including remote work as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the operation, development, and growth of sports and youth programs.
  • Schedule programs and supervise staff.
  • Advise sport clubs and train officials.
  • Manage risks and oversee budget management.
  • Ensure player eligibility and communicate with parents.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in Recreation Administration, Sports Management, or a related field is required; or a bachelor's degree with equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of management of comprehensive, competitive, and recreational sport programs.
  • Basic skills in scheduling, event planning, and logistics coordination.
  • Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of colleagues, students, and the public.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications or ability to obtain within three months of employment.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
