The Coordinator position at Columbia University is a vital role within the Law School, providing essential administrative and programmatic support to faculty and researchers. This position is designed to facilitate the teaching, scholarship, and service of full-time faculty members while also supporting the activities of affiliated research centers and programs. The Coordinator will work closely with multiple professors of law, research scholars, and visiting professors, ensuring that their courses and seminars are well-prepared and executed. This includes compiling and organizing course materials, editing syllabi, updating course websites using CourseWorks, and maintaining effective communication with students and teaching assistants. In addition to course support, the Coordinator will be responsible for planning and coordinating various events and programs, such as academic seminars, colloquia, special events, and conferences. This involves arranging publicity, catering, travel arrangements, reimbursements, and honoraria for speakers and participants. The role also includes arranging travel for faculty and visitors, planning itineraries, and preparing travel and business expense reports for submission to the Business Office via Concur. The Coordinator will act as a liaison between professors, fellows, guest speakers, students, scholars, and other academic institutions, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration. Furthermore, the Coordinator will perform basic legal research using legal software databases such as Westlaw and LexisNexis, and will assist in preparing and sending clerkship and other letters of recommendation in collaboration with faculty, students, and the Office of Judicial Clerkships. The position requires a proactive approach, with the ability to work creatively and independently while managing multiple responsibilities in a high-volume environment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure, all while supporting an inclusive work environment.
