Responsibilities
- Copy edit articles for print, web, and video formats.
- Maintain high standards for clarity, readability, and accuracy.
- Examine body text, headlines, decks, captions, credits, charts, and all editorial components for spelling, grammar, and style.
- Suggest improvements in meaning, clarity, cohesiveness, and balance.
- Examine photos and illustrations for content problems.
- Review online copy for formatting errors, broken links, and usability flaws.
- Provide basic fact-checking when necessary.
- Work efficiently and meticulously on deadlines, both independently and as part of a team.
- Collaborate with editors and designers to achieve editorial objectives.
- Contribute suggested changes to the organization-wide style guide.
Requirements
- Mid-level writing skills.
- Experience in copy editing for print, web, and video.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe InDesign.
- Strong grammar and editing experience.
- Ability to work on national magazine, newspaper, or website content.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience using Adobe InCopy.
- Familiarity with Macintosh systems.
