About the position

The Copy Editor/Script Coordinator for World of Warcraft plays a crucial role in ensuring the clarity and accuracy of the vast amount of text that is added and updated with each game release. This position involves proofreading and editing a wide range of strings, including dialogue, quest text, item descriptions, and UI elements, to confirm adherence to the in-house style guide. The successful candidate will work closely with the Narrative team to maintain the script library, ensuring that all team members have access to the most current drafts of story content. This role is essential in preventing errors and enhancing the player experience through precise and engaging writing. In addition to proofreading, the Copy Editor will be responsible for reviewing all strings for grammatical accuracy, spelling, punctuation, and overall clarity, following the Chicago Manual of Style. The role requires the ability to work within the team's proprietary game editor to implement necessary edits and fixes. The Copy Editor will also respond to typographical bugs reported by Quality Assurance, ensuring that all text in the game is polished and error-free. Another key responsibility is to communicate with various design teams to update and maintain the style guide, ensuring that all text within the game adheres to established standards. This includes adding new terms and standards with each release, which is vital for maintaining consistency across the game’s narrative and dialogue. The position is a 12-month contract with the potential for extension, and the company is open to remote work, preferably within the Pacific Time Zone.
