About the position

The Copy Editor position at Ascella Technologies involves supporting a Federal client by reviewing finished intelligence papers before publication. This role requires on-site presence in Tysons Corner and focuses on ensuring editorial accuracy while adhering to client policies and style standards.

Responsibilities

• Recommending edits to draft papers, graphics, and other products to improve quality and ensure editorial correctness without altering technical accuracy or meaning.
• Ensuring products conform to client's policy guidance and style standards.
• Applying writing standards, critical thinking skills, and expertise in grammar, punctuation, and copyediting to identify and resolve editorial issues and inconsistencies in complex text and graphics.
• Revising corporate style guidance as necessary.
• Developing and recommending editorial and publishing policies and practices along with standard operation procedures for editing and/or publishing.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in English, writing, or a related field (years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree).
• 2-6 years of copyediting experience.
• Experience reviewing written products for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and adherence to style guidelines.
• Experience performing copyedit reviews of intelligence products, including classification portion markings and endnotes.
• Knowledge of Intelligence Community agency/office style guides.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively and efficiently multi-task, prioritize, and carry out projects with minimal supervision.
• Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated analytical, reasoning, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and independent thinker with a positive attitude.
