About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Venture Community Services is responsible for advocating and supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role focuses on empowering individuals to lead active lives by assisting with daily activities, medical appointments, and community engagement. The DSP is committed to enhancing the quality of life for these individuals through compassionate support and innovative practices.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for and support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Assist with household maintenance, meal preparation, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, and personal hygiene.
• Accompany individuals to medical appointments and community activities.
• Administer medications as per guidelines and follow Behavior Support Plans and Individual Support Plans.
• Ensure the safety of individuals, including evacuation in emergencies.
• Maintain certifications and comply with agency policies and DDS regulations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
• Ability to work as a creative and engaged team member.
• Commitment to assisting people with varying disabilities.
