About the position

The Installation and Service Technician role is an entry-level position focused on broadband installation and troubleshooting for voice, video, and data services. The technician will be responsible for ensuring high-quality service delivery while adhering to safety and compliance standards. Responsibilities

  • Use installation tools and hand tools for jobs from high places, including climbing poles with proper equipment, ladders, and bucket trucks (18 to 26 feet).
  • Perform installations and changes of service adhering to company procedures, National Electric Code (NEC), National Electric Safety Code (NESC) requirements, and local ordinances.
  • Perform service calls, troubleshoot equipment issues, and design basic home networks using coaxial cable, Ethernet, Wi-Fi networks, and multimedia over coax alliance (MoCA).
  • Complete associated record keeping in a timely manner to ensure all details are recorded for customer accounts.
  • Review and confirm the quality of service, perform necessary adjustments or fixes to provide the best possible service.
  • Determine the appropriate placement of devices and design of Wi-Fi networks considering Wi-Fi channels, co-channel interference, and channel utilization.
  • Provide advanced customer education on products and services, use of devices, and set appropriate expectations.
  • Clean, maintain, and stock vehicles and equipment, report the need for repairs or service, and report any accidents, losses, or property damage.
  • Properly operate and maintain installation tools, technology, and equipment, including hand tools, light power tools, meters, or ladders.
  • Demonstrate the ability to navigate digital tools for work order management and digital diagnostics.
  • Obtain and maintain appropriate licensing and/or background checks as required.
  • Use sound judgment in decision-making and problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Experience in broadband installation and troubleshooting activities.
  • Ability to lift and carry loads of 70 lbs. or more.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with customers and co-workers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with digital tools for work order management and diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of Wi-Fi network design and troubleshooting.
