About the position

Farallon Consulting, L.L.C. is seeking a Principal Geologist or Hydrogeologist to manage a variety of environmental projects in their Oakland, California office. This role involves overseeing contaminated site investigations, remediation efforts, and regulatory coordination, while ensuring high-quality client service and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage a broad range of projects related to contaminated site investigation and remediation.
  • Oversee environmental due diligence, litigation support, and regulatory coordination.
  • Ensure quality and client service in fast-paced project environments.
  • Prepare proposals, summary reports, and formal cleanup documentation including Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study reports.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of scientists and engineers on business development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in geology, hydrogeology, engineering or related field from an accredited university.
  • Professionally licensed in California.
  • Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in environmental consulting.
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams for Remedial Investigations and Feasibility Studies.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations.
  • Experience working with California regulators on cleanups.
  • Ability to assess project risk and manage long-term project liabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Subject matter expert qualifications on emerging contaminants or sediments.
  • Previous experience as a consulting or testifying expert on hazardous substances.
  • Professional registrations in Alaska, California, Nevada, or Washington.
  • Existing client relationships.
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER).
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training.
