About the position

The Copywriter at Holt International Children's Services is a key member of the Philanthropy and Communications team, responsible for creating and editing high-quality written content that supports fundraising and communication efforts. This role involves developing engaging stories, marketing materials, and social media posts that align with Holt's mission to find permanent families for vulnerable children. The Copywriter collaborates with various departments to ensure timely and effective communication, contributing to the organization's overall goals of increasing support and awareness for child welfare initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop and edit engaging content for Holt's blog, newsletters, email communications, fundraising appeals, and marketing materials.
• Research and write vivid and inspiring copy, ensuring adherence to AP Style and Holt's branding guidelines.
• Promote continual improvement in marketing efforts by researching best practices and participating in educational opportunities.
• Work independently and collaboratively within the Creative Services department to meet production deadlines and maintain relationships with other departments.
• Contribute to a positive work environment by exhibiting cooperative work relationships and effective communication.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, communications, or a related field.
• 1 year of experience in related work, preferably in fundraising and/or nonprofit communications.
• Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of Macintosh desktop publishing software, including Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Word.
• Experience with social media platforms and content management systems, including WordPress.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in nonprofit communications or fundraising is preferred.
• Familiarity with SEO best practices for digital content.
