About the position

MGA Entertainment is seeking a talented Copywriter to join our dynamic team in Los Angeles, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for writing and designing instruction manuals, assembly instructions, and other documents that convert complex information into a format that is easy for readers to understand and execute upon. You will oversee staff in their day-to-day functions, ensuring that all documentation meets the high standards of clarity and usability that our consumers expect. Your primary focus will be on writing, designing, and maintaining product instruction manuals, which will account for approximately 60% of your time. You will also engage in product evaluation and testing, which will take up about 20% of your responsibilities, and the remaining 20% will involve communications with various departments to ensure that all information is accurate and effectively conveyed. This position requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while adhering to strict deadlines. As a Copywriter at MGA Entertainment, you will collaborate closely with project managers, product designers, and the entertainment department to gather necessary information for manuals and ensure that consumer-facing product demonstration scripts and videos align with the instruction manuals. Your role is crucial in confirming the safety, viability, and workability of the items being developed, making you an integral part of our product development process.

Responsibilities

  • Write, design, and maintain product instruction manuals.
  • Conduct product evaluation and testing.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers and product designers to gather necessary information for manuals.
  • Track and document project progress daily to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Set up, perform, and document function testing on assorted items to determine viability and verification of products.
  • Interface with the entertainment department to ensure consumer-facing product demonstration scripts and videos align with instruction manuals.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in English, Journalism, or Technical Writing.
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in writing technical documents.
  • Top-notch skills in writing, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely through writing and design.
  • Must speak clearly, concisely, and effectively; listen to and understand information and ideas presented verbally.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple projects concurrently while adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • High proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Ability to create line art graphics and instructional layouts.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Photography aptitude.
