About the position

The Core Infrastructure Systems Engineer plans, designs, implements and supports the integration and requirements of one or more Server/Application systems. They also act as architects for non-technical people, gathering requirements, and turning them into working systems and services. The Core Infrastructure Systems Engineer will initiate projects and provide direction to leadership on technical matters. Identifies what needs to be done and acts before being asked to or required by the situation. The Core Infrastructure Systems Engineer creates and implements Infrastructure systems and services and provides Tier IV support to Children's Mercy's Infrastructure. This is a 100% remote role, but the incumbent must live within the KC metro.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the design, selection, and implementation of Core Infrastructure systems technologies.
  • Creates and maintains accurate documentation
  • Manages the overall health and performance of the Core Infrastructure
  • Provide friendly, concise, and informed technical support for Information Systems staff, network users, hospital staff, patients, and the public
  • Maintains technical competency

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related field and 3-5 years' experience, or High School diploma and 7 or more years experience.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Preferred
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) Preferred
  • Agile & Scrum Certification Preferred
  • VMWare Certified Professional (VCP) Preferred

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with NetApp Storage Arrays
  • Experience with VMware virtualization
  • Experience with Veeam Backup and Recovery
  • Experience with CISCO UCS
  • Experience with MS Windows and/or Redhat Linux operating systems
  • Rubrik and Nutanix AHV experience would be a plus.
