About the position

The Core Laboratory Supervisor at Rivers Health is responsible for overseeing laboratory operations, including specimen collection, analysis, and reporting results. This role involves managing the workflow of laboratory personnel, including Medical Technologists (MT), Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT), and Phlebotomists. The supervisor will also be tasked with training staff, ensuring compliance with quality control measures, and maintaining laboratory equipment and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory duties including obtaining specimens and performing analyses.
• Report results and set up new testing procedures.
• Assist in directing the workflow of MT, MLT, Phlebotomists, students, and other laboratory personnel.
• Oversee duties of Primary Operators, including instrument assignments and specific job training.
• Manage inventory, preventive maintenance, and calibration verification for laboratory instruments.
• Conduct quality control checks and ensure compliance with biannual calibration precision and accuracy checks.
• Responsible for yearly competency assessments for all technicians, technologists, and phlebotomists in various laboratory areas.

Requirements

• Baccalaureate degree in medical technology or related field plus eligibility for ASCP.
• Associate degree in applied science or related field plus eligibility for ASCP with intention to pursue a Baccalaureate degree.
• West Virginia License.
• Three years or more of general staff tech experience, with concentrated experience in associated areas preferred.
• Problem-solving abilities and the capability to develop and give instructions for complex technical procedures.
• Ability to coordinate staffing and supervisory activities with minimal supervision.
