About the position

At Apple, the Core Technologies New Product Introduction Operations Program Manager (NPI OPM) plays a crucial role in launching products on time, ensuring high quality, and maximizing customer availability. This position is pivotal to the dynamic development and launch of Apple's products, including the iPhone, Apple Watch, Mac, and iPad. The NPI OPM is responsible for leading the key subsystems across all platforms, ensuring that operations readiness is achieved and that critical components are successfully brought up for new products. The NPI OPM is expected to be a strong leader and collaborator, working closely with design engineering, process, quality, and procurement teams, as well as external suppliers. This role involves leading program readiness reviews that assess the overall program status of design and technical development, driving closure on any design, technical, or operations issues that may arise. The NPI OPM will also influence product manufacturability, testability, and supply chain responsiveness, all while maintaining a focus on quality and cost-effectiveness. In addition to these responsibilities, the NPI OPM will lead operations development builds on-site at suppliers and will be responsible for the successful ramp-up of mass production. Excellent communication skills are essential, as the NPI OPM will present updates in weekly meetings with large multi-functional teams and executives. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who thrives in an ambiguous environment and is adept at facilitating actions and resolving conflicts.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Core Technologies operations readiness and successful bring up of critical components for iPhone, iPad, Watch, Mac products and other new products.
  • Collaborate with design engineering, process, quality, and procurement teams and external suppliers.
  • Lead program readiness reviews that include overall program status of design/technical development and operations.
  • Drive closure on design/technical and operations issues.
  • Influence product manufacturability, testability, and supply chain responsiveness in pursuit of low cost and flexibility while stewarding quality.
  • Lead operations development builds on-site at suppliers and ensure successful mass production ramp up.
  • Present in weekly meetings with large multi-functional teams and executives.

Requirements

  • Experience in manufacturing, process engineering, supply chain or product development.
  • Consumer electronics background preferred.
  • BS or MS degree in Industrial, Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering.
  • MBA is a plus.
