About the position
NorthStar Anesthesia is seeking PRN Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners to join the Corewell Royal Oak and Troy pain clinic. This role involves providing care for complex acute and chronic pain patients in a well-respected practice with excellent support staff. The position requires a minimum commitment of two shifts per month during daytime hours, with opportunities for additional shifts. Candidates must hold a Michigan license and relevant certifications.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient health by interviewing and performing physical examinations.
- Determine abnormal conditions through diagnostic imaging and laboratory testing.
- Perform trigger point injections and joint injections, as well as greater occipital nerve blocks.
- Counsel patients regarding medical treatment options.
- Document patient care services accurately in patient and department records.
- Perform therapeutic procedures and manage pain pump treatments.
- Provide patient education about procedures and medications.
- Maintain a full schedule per practice template and manage an independent caseload.
- Comply with corporate policies regarding billing, coding, and documentation.
- Maintain professional interactions with patients and staff.
Requirements
- BLS Certification
- ACLS Certification
- DEA Certification
- Epic Physician Assistant License
- Under 1 year of experience in a relevant field
- Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program
- Current licensure in the state of Michigan
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with pain management techniques
- Familiarity with biopsychosocial aspects of chronic pain
- Willingness to learn and perform advanced procedures
