About the position

The Machining I position at Caterpillar Inc. is a vital role within the Remanufacturing Division, focused on supporting sustainable solutions through the remanufacturing of Cat products. This position involves operating machinery with minimal input, ensuring quality checks, and working in a fast-paced, safety-oriented environment. The role emphasizes teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret blueprints, contributing to the company's mission of building a better world through innovative and sustainable practices.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload machines with minimal operator input.
  • Work in a fast-paced, safety and quality focused environment.
  • Interpret blueprints and perform quality checks based on standard work requirements.
  • Understand torque requirements and processes.
  • Operate hand tools, cordless tools, gauges, and vibration tools.
  • Utilize an overhead hoist to move large components as needed.
  • Load and unload parts, potentially using heavy equipment such as reach trucks and forklifts.
  • Operate CNC controls/programs and automated packaging equipment.
  • Check incoming material and enter data into various computer systems.
  • Cross-train in other Salary Grade 2 positions as required.

Requirements

  • Basic computer experience, including reading standard work documents and entering data.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior use of hoists.
  • Knowledge of engines and components.
  • Experience with basic tooling (hand tools, air tools, gauges, pneumatic tools, etc.).
  • Previous machining experience.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
