About the position

Apogee Engineering is seeking a full-time Technical Recruiter to join our Talent Acquisition team at our office in Dayton, Ohio. This role is pivotal in managing the full-cycle recruiting process, which includes collaborating with hiring managers to draft detailed job descriptions and compelling job postings, determining effective screening questions, and posting requisitions. The Technical Recruiter will also work closely with the proposal team to develop staffing plans and perform recruiting to secure key resources necessary for submitting competitive proposals. In this position, the recruiter will build a network of government contracting industry professionals through platforms like LinkedIn and Clearance Jobs, leveraging these relationships to source qualified candidates for open positions. The role involves researching and writing job descriptions for new positions, developing creative sourcing strategies, and utilizing the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), job boards, postings, referrals, and attending events to attract talent. The recruiter will consult with candidates to understand their motivations and guide them through the hiring process, ensuring that all candidates are fully vetted for the roles they apply for. Additionally, the Technical Recruiter will negotiate offers, prepare offer letters, and follow up to ensure successful candidate closures. Regular meetings with hiring managers will be conducted to assess current and upcoming staffing needs. The recruiter may also be involved in special projects, including new contract transitions and corporate initiatives focused on process improvement or innovation. Some travel may be required for site visits or career fairs, making this a dynamic and engaging role within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with hiring managers to draft detailed job descriptions and compelling job postings.
  • Determine effective screening questions and post requisitions.
  • Work with the proposal team to develop staffing plans and perform recruiting for competitive proposals.
  • Build a network of government contracting industry professionals via LinkedIn and Clearance Jobs.
  • Research and write job descriptions for new positions.
  • Develop creative sourcing strategies and utilize the ATS, job boards, postings, referrals, and events to source talent.
  • Monitor sourcing strategies for effectiveness and adjust as needed.
  • Consult with candidates to understand their motivations and guide them through the hiring process.
  • Screen talent to ensure candidates are qualified and fully vetted for the role.
  • Negotiate offers, prepare offer letters, and follow up to ensure successful candidate closures.
  • Attend/conduct meetings with hiring managers to determine current and upcoming staffing needs.
  • Work on special projects such as new contract transitions and corporate process improvement initiatives.
  • Travel for site visits or career fairs as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience; OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 6 years relevant experience; OR 14+ years' relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with DoD recruiting and/or technical recruiting is highly desired.
  • Experience in cold calling and building relationships.
  • Experience in identifying, engaging, and screening candidates.
  • Experience in assessing candidates' qualifications against Performance Work Statement (PWS) and Statements of Work (SOW).
  • Experience in negotiations and selling the value of the position.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
