About the position

This position is responsible for safeguarding hotel assets by managing all receipts and disbursements, ensuring accurate and timely accounting operations for a select group of properties. The role involves processing payroll, payables, and preparing financial statements, while also reconciling balance sheets and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the controller in directing the overall operations of the accounting team.
  • Process payroll in a timely manner, including entering hours, checking deductions, and remitting payroll taxes.
  • Prepare quarterly payroll forms and edit W2 reports for printing.
  • Process payables, including entering payables received and mailing checks.
  • Prepare financial statements by processing month-end payroll reports and journal entries.
  • Reconcile balance sheets, including bank statements and sales tax remittances.
  • Process monthly bank reconciliations and sales tax returns for multiple states.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED, with some secondary accounting courses preferred.
  • Two years prior accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, push and pull, climb, bend, crouch/stoop, twist and reach for extended periods of time.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Time management and problem-solving skills.
