The primary purpose of the Corporate Accounting Manager is to provide accounting support for the staff accountant team, prepare financial statements, review and approval of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, daily revenue and cash reconciliations, as well as other related finance projects. The Corporate Accounting Manager will be tasked with managing a team of Corporate Staff Accountants and/or third-party accounting services in the performance of assigned functions, which includes training, development, and performance management of the team. You will support the consistent administration of the financial objectives across multiple hotel properties by reviewing and monitoring the accounting activities, and working with other departments, properties, and vendors to resolve outstanding items. Additionally, you will manage the completion of month-end close operations, preparing daily, weekly, and monthly metrics and other ad-hoc reports as required. You will prepare and review monthly financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations with property and corporate accounting teams, identify, recommend, and implement process improvement opportunities to streamline accounting data and processes, and assist in report evaluation, decisions, and results of the department in relation to established goals. You will also work closely with assigned property personnel to ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures, maintain and review accounting records, and compile reports from the database. Your role will require exercising discretion and independence in achieving financial accounting goals, managing direct reports, and ensuring associates understand and adhere to employment practices, supporting performance management, and implementing discipline in accordance with Atrium's guidelines and Core Values.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of Corporate Staff Accountants and/or third-party accounting services in the performance of assigned functions, including training, development, and performance management of the team.
  • Support the consistent administration of the financial objectives across multiple hotel properties by reviewing and monitoring the accounting activities, and working with other departments, properties, and vendors to resolve outstanding items.
  • Manage completion of month-end close operations, preparing daily, weekly, and monthly metrics and other ad-hoc reports as required.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations with property and corporate accounting teams.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvement opportunities to streamline accounting data and processes.
  • Assist in report evaluation, decisions, and results of the department in relation to established goals.
  • Assist on key projects and initiatives as assigned by Directors.
  • Work closely with assigned property personnel to ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and review accounting records and compile reports from the database.
  • Exercise discretion and independence in achieving financial accounting goals.
  • Manage direct reports by ensuring Associates understand and adhere to employment practices, recommend employment decisions and corrective action, support performance management, and implement discipline in accordance with Atrium's guidelines and Core Values.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of and experience with accounting principles to include general ledger, bank, accounts payable and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Proven experience in analyzing financial data and preparing financial reports or statements.
