About the position

StarRez, Inc. is seeking a talented Corporate Accounting Senior Manager to join our finance team. In this pivotal role, you will manage the day-to-day accounting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), corporate policies, and external audits. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the corporate accounting and accounts payable functions, with a particular focus on the month-end close process and the preparation of financial reporting packages. As the Corporate Accounting Senior Manager, you will report directly to the VP Corporate Controller. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership capabilities and a solid corporate accounting background, demonstrating a proactive approach to driving results. We are looking for a self-starter who is flexible, has high integrity, and is action and goal-oriented, thriving in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and collaborative environment. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a team of General Ledger and Accounts Payable accountants, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. You will also draft and review technical accounting memos, oversee treasury disbursements, and manage the company's annual consolidated and statutory audits, acting as the primary contact with the audit team. Additionally, you will identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and systems, implement best practices, and improve the efficiency and accuracy of the month-end close.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of General Ledger and Accounts Payable accountants.
  • Responsible for the month-end closing process, including approving journal entries and reviewing account reconciliations.
  • Review and analyze the monthly financial reporting package and debt compliance reporting in accordance with GAAP and IFRS.
  • Draft and review technical accounting memos.
  • Review and approve AP bills and expense reports.
  • Oversee treasury disbursements and transfers.
  • Work with tax advisors on Corporate Income Tax and Indirect Tax filings.
  • Manage the company's annual consolidated and statutory audits, and act as primary contact with the audit team.
  • Responsible for insurance renewals and compliance.
  • Draft and maintain SOPs and accounting policies.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and systems, implement best practices, and improve the efficiency and accuracy of month end close.
  • Assist the VP Corporate Controller with special projects for global payroll and NetSuite enhancements.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting; a MAcc degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience with a mix of public accounting.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and IFRS; a CPA is preferred.
  • Experience with NetSuite accounting system is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient with MS Excel and working ability in Word and PowerPoint.
  • Resourceful, innovative, with a can-do attitude (open to change).
  • Flexible hours to periodically partner with the Australian finance team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with NetSuite accounting system is a plus.
  • A MAcc degree is a plus.
  • A CPA is preferred.
