About The Position

Cianbro is seeking a Corporate Assistant Director of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) to join our team in a 100% employee-owned company. This corporate position will report directly to the Corporate Director of Health, Safety, and Environmental and will play a crucial role in developing our health and safety professionals while supporting our operational teams. The primary goal is to foster and maintain a healthy and safe work environment for all employees. This is a full-time, salary-exempt position that requires working Monday through Friday, with frequent travel to various operating regions. The role may also require work outside of scheduled times and scope as business needs dictate. The position will be based out of the Cianbro Corporate Headquarters in Pittsfield, Maine. The Corporate Assistant Director of HSE will be responsible for collaborating with operational teams to ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and company regulations related to health, safety, and environmental practices. Regular risk assessments and audits will be conducted to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement. The role involves creating and facilitating educational and development programs for team members, participating in investigations and lessons learned processes, and managing emergency response plans and procedures. Continuous improvement of HSE programs will be a focus, along with delivering safety educational programs and conducting weekly work area surveillance inspections. The position also requires accompanying safety, health, and insurance inspectors on walk-through tours and ensuring that all accidents, safety violations, and unsafe conditions are documented and addressed. In addition to these responsibilities, the Corporate Assistant Director will utilize safety data to drive continuous improvement, participate in and lead bi-weekly Health Safety Environmental Professional Team meetings, and keep current on best practices in the safety field through continuous education and research. Mentoring newly hired safety specialists and maintaining regular communication with field Health Safety Environmental Professionals will be essential. The role requires working cohesively with other departments and operations teams, employing best-in-class programs and procedures across the Cianbro Enterprise, and supporting site health, safety, and environmental programs as needed.
