About the position

The Corporate Communications Manager at Cracker Barrel plays a crucial role in shaping and conveying the company's corporate story, values, and strategic initiatives during a time of transformation. This individual contributor position requires a strategic thinker with strong writing and editing skills, capable of managing multiple projects and developing effective communication plans for both internal and external audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive corporate communications strategy aligned with the company's transformation goals.
  • Craft compelling messaging and narratives that articulate the company's vision, mission, and values to various stakeholders, including employees and media.
  • Collaborate closely with the marketing, HR, and Operations teams to ensure alignment of messaging and consistency in corporate communication across all channels.
  • Support internal communications strategic initiatives, including drafting content for various channels (meetings, speeches, intranet updates).
  • Work with PR agency to develop a corporate communications media plan with actionable strategies for high-level placements.
  • Oversee the development and execution of corporate media events, press conferences, and other PR related activities.
  • Serve as a communications advisor to leadership and serve as a key spokesperson representing the company as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, journalism, human resources or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of communications experience, preferably in the restaurant or food industry.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Good organizational, planning, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and re-prioritize as needed.
  • Desire to take full ownership of assigned projects and can work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative relationships and influence.
  • Confidence to deal with senior executives and discuss communication needs/strategies.
  • Good verbal presentation, group dynamic, and facilitation skills.
  • Proactive approach in resolving problems and issues.
  • Creative ability to devise communication strategies.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite of tools and Adobe Creative Cloud.
