About the position

Behavioral Framework, a leading provider of ABA therapy to children diagnosed with autism in the DMV area, is seeking a Corporate Controller to join our team. We are dedicated to providing excellent, honest, and compassionate care within the autism community, and we believe in the dedication and passion of our professional team and the science behind ABA to make a difference in the families and children we serve. Our organization has been recognized on the Inc. 5000 list for three consecutive years and is one of only four autism providers in the country to earn a three-year accreditation along with telehealth from the Behavioral Health Center of Excellence. Our beautiful new office is conveniently located just two minutes from I-270. The Corporate Controller will play a crucial role in shaping the financial infrastructure of our organization to support continued expansion, both organically and through mergers and acquisitions (M&A). The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in mid-market private equity-owned or publicly traded organizations. Initially, the Controller will focus on bringing the accounting function in-house and will eventually be responsible for hiring a team to support the company's growth. This position requires a hands-on approach to accounting, financial reporting, and compliance processes to ensure timely delivery of financial information to all internal and external stakeholders. Key responsibilities include administering the internal control environment, developing financial policies, and coordinating audits. The Corporate Controller will ensure timely and accurate financial closing on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, prepare financial statements in compliance with US GAAP, analyze financial data to identify anomalies, and provide insightful financial analyses of business operations. The successful candidate will collaborate with executive leadership to make informed financial decisions and engage with various stakeholders, including investors and auditors, to process transactions and resolve issues.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures timely and accurate financial closing (monthly, quarterly and annual basis).
  • Prepares accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with US GAAP, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and statements of equity.
  • Analyze financial data and transactions to identify anomalies and proactively resolve any errors found.
  • Develops and provides insightful and timely financial analyses of business operations and opportunities, spearheading the interpretation of operating results in relation to anticipated results and providing recommendations for improving financial performance.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to ensure compliant and accurate accounting and financial reporting, and to safeguard company assets.
  • Help with acquisition and new market due diligence and integrations.
  • Select, develop, and retain team members to drive the success of the department.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to make informed financial decisions.
  • Engage and work with internal and external stakeholders - to include investors, financial statement auditors, tax compliance advisors, federal/state/local agencies, vendors, and employees - to process transactions, resolve issues, and make business decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • CPA certification required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a $50M-$100M company.
  • Public accounting experience is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinker with ability to conduct research, perform data analysis and resolve complex problems.
  • Proven track record of success in improving financial performance and optimizing cash flow.
  • Experience with high-growth companies and acquisition integrations preferred.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to effectively lead a team and drive results.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Advanced knowledge of US GAAP accounting standards required.
  • Proficiency with Excel, financial software, and ERP systems.

Nice-to-haves
