About the position

As the Corporate Controller at Charles Products, Inc., you will take on a hands-on leadership role that emphasizes both coaching your team and ensuring the completion of work tasks. Your primary responsibility will be to facilitate the automation of manual processes, setting clear expectations for your team while holding them accountable for producing accurate and timely work. You will provide exceptional internal service, ensuring that the financial statements are prepared and reviewed accurately and on time. Working closely with the CFO, you will act as a reporting partner, supplying financial information to leadership and the board to support data-driven decision-making. In this role, you will collaborate with broader Finance and Accounting (F&A) concepts to share successes, enhance the function, and deliver high-quality results. You will lead by example, embodying the core values of the company and coaching your teammates to do the same. Your focus will be on driving towards the expectations of the board, continuously improving outcomes on a quarterly and monthly basis. You will streamline and oversee the month-end close process, significantly reducing the time required to close. Additionally, you will establish and maintain shared services concepts, implementing them with precision using integration best practices. Your responsibilities will include reviewing, modifying, and overseeing the accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) functions, supporting the CFO with sales compensation commission adjustments through analytics and timely reporting, and overseeing reconciliations and adjustments to health, dental, and life policies. You will also lead audits and compliance projects, participate in the hiring and training of new accounting staff, and perform managerial tasks regularly while completing ad hoc projects as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Review and oversee accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) functions.
  • Support CFO in sales compensation commission adjustments with analytics and reporting.
  • Oversee reconciliation and adjustments to health/dental/life policies.
  • Lead audits and compliance projects.
  • Participate in interviewing, selecting, and training new accounting staff.
  • Perform managerial tasks and complete ad hoc projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding and proven application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • 7+ years of corporate accounting experience including financial reporting.
  • 5+ years in an accounting leadership role managing a team.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a relevant field of study.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on big picture strategy.
  • Willingness to pivot as priorities change.
  • Passion for automation and process improvement.
  • Understanding of various legal entities and their operations.
  • Professional and concise communication skills.

  • Experience with M&A transactions and accounting integrations.
