About the position

The Corporate Controller at World Choice Investments will play a pivotal role in overseeing all accounting functions and processes for a multi-state, multi-location organization. This position requires a diverse individual who can lead, support, and develop the corporate accounting and payroll team. The Corporate Controller will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial information to Executive Management, ensuring that all financial reporting aligns with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies. In this role, the Corporate Controller will support the annual budgeting and planning process for each location, ensuring that financial goals are met and that resources are allocated efficiently. The position involves managing the month-end and year-end close of the general ledger, preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual profit and loss consolidations, and financial reporting. The Corporate Controller will also work closely with a CPA on financial audits, providing recommendations for procedural improvements to enhance the overall financial integrity of the organization. Additionally, the Corporate Controller will review and manage internal systems, controls, processes, and procedures to ensure the integrity, accuracy, compliance, and usefulness of financial information and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong alignment with the organizational mission and values, demonstrating a proactive, hands-on approach to the role, often referred to as a "player/coach". Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as the Corporate Controller will need to extract meaning from numbers and present analyses clearly and concisely to individuals with varying degrees of financial knowledge. A working knowledge of accounting systems is also required to effectively manage the financial operations of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, support, and develop the corporate accounting and payroll team.
  • Deliver accurate and timely financial information to Executive Management.
  • Provide support for the annual budgeting and planning process for each location.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close of the general ledger.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual P&L consolidations and financial reporting consistent with GAAP and Company policy.
  • Work with CPA on financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements.
  • Review and manage internal systems, controls, processes, and procedures to ensure the integrity, accuracy, compliance, and usefulness of financial information and reporting.

Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 10 years corporate accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, and cost control principles including GAAP required (CPA preferred, but not required).
  • Proven track record in managing people and process improvement.
  • Strong alignment with organizational mission and values.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to extract meaning from numbers and present analysis clearly and concisely to people with varying degrees of financial knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems.
