About the position

HITT Contracting is seeking a driven Corporate Controller who will oversee all financial activities while maintaining solid internal controls in accordance with GAAP and internal accounting policies and procedures. The Controller will play an instrumental role, helping to improve and/or create processes and policies in support of the company mission. They will be hands-on in the accounting and financial reporting processes to ensure accurate and timely financial information to all stakeholders. This position will report directly to the Vice President of Accounting. The Corporate Controller will be responsible for the accurate reporting of financial results in accordance with US GAAP, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. They will ensure that journal entries are posted and that accounts/ledgers are accurate leading into the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing. The Controller will prepare and report on regular reconciliations of the balance sheet and all related sub-ledgers, such as fixed assets and accounts receivable. In addition, the Controller will establish and maintain internal controls to ensure compliant and accurate accounting and financial reporting. They will transform and institutionalize accounting activities to a best practice methodology, ensuring that functions effectively balance accuracy and efficiency. The Controller will develop and maintain a system of policies and procedures that impose an adequate level of control over all accounting activities. The role also involves managing a forward-thinking view of departmental workload and capacity to drive optimum staff utilization and make team recommendations. The Controller will provide timely and effective communications to the Corporate Accounting team so they possess the necessary information to perform successfully. They will develop and maintain a high-performing accounting organization through training and mentorship of team members, regularly reviewing career path goals with the team and providing feedback on progression. Furthermore, the Controller will create strategies and policies to support and execute all Corporate Accounting activities and coordinate supporting information systems, including policies, procedures, and initiatives with operating and support stakeholders. They will continually assess software systems and automate accounting processes wherever possible, driving ERP implementation to ensure an efficient and robust financial system. The Controller will serve as a cross-functional lead for enterprise-wide accounting initiatives, interface with HITT's external audit partners to ensure internal controls are sound, and ensure accurate and timely filing of all local, state, and federal tax filings.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely filing of all local, state, and federal tax filings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Ten (10) years of progressive management and accounting experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with Excel, financial software, and ERP systems.
  • Experience in designing and implementing accounting processes and controls.
  • ERP implementation experience guiding team in the identification of business requirements, functional design, mapping, prototyping, testing, and training a plus.
  • Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate financial results in a concise and timely manner.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinker with the ability to conduct research, perform data analysis and resolve complex problems.
  • Demonstrated self-starter who possess an entrepreneurial spirit to seek opportunities for efficiency and takes initiative.
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining high performing accounting team.
