Miller-Davis Company is seeking a purposeful, collaborative, and highly organized individual for the position of Corporate Controller. This role is critical in providing high-level accounting, risk management, innovation, compliance, and business development to enhance the company's efficiency and profitability. The Corporate Controller will oversee month-end closings, guide cost accounting functions, manage the annual audit, and prepare detailed financial forecasts that serve as the foundation for budgeting decisions based on data-driven insights. In this role, the Corporate Controller will supervise all cost accounting functions, including labor cost and job cost forecasting. They will identify and review issues potentially affecting project profitability directly with project management and project supervision to ensure understanding of the issues being reported and the actions to be taken to reduce or eliminate significant forecast expenditures. The Corporate Controller will collaborate with the team to ensure accounting procedures are uniformly applied and pinpoint appropriate solutions to monitor any job facet identified as providing a higher-than-normal risk of financial loss. Additionally, they will oversee the use of Sage/Timberline construction software and manage compliance with all tax laws and regulations. The Corporate Controller will also work closely with the Miller-Davis innovation team to identify, evaluate, and implement technology to enhance efficiency and profitability. This includes guiding and overseeing the company's third-party managed IT services provider and managing the company's physical IT needs. As a key player in business development, the Corporate Controller will participate in local community activities and provide supporting financial data relative to all business development efforts. They will review and provide written commentary on all construction contracts, assist in managing corporate insurance renewals, and support dispute resolution efforts. Furthermore, the Corporate Controller will work closely with human resources to ensure a positive employee experience regarding benefit plans and compliance functions. They will assist in managing insured benefit plan renewals and participate in annual benefit plan reviews. The role also involves cultivating relationships with bonding companies, banks, insurance agents, and attorneys, as well as participating in professional development activities to stay current on industry developments.
