About the position

The Corporate Controller will oversee financial operations, ensuring the integrity of accounting practices and compliance with regulations. This role is essential for maintaining accurate financial records, managing cash flow, and providing strategic insights to support the company's growth. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in accounting and finance, strong leadership skills, and a solid understanding of regulatory reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee essential financial functions and provide comprehensive financial oversight for multiple entities.
  • Lead the accounting division, including direct oversight of the accounting department.
  • Manage AR/AP vendor relationships and establish strong partnerships to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective accounting systems and controls to optimize financial monitoring.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce expenses, maximize revenue, and drive overall financial performance.
  • Utilize historical data and trend analysis to forecast, create, and maintain accurate budgets for all entities.
  • Serve as a strategic partner in key financial initiatives, collaborating with leadership to drive growth and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and company policies related to taxes, financial regulations, and accounting principles.
  • Provide expert financial counsel to the CEO and ownership team, influencing business decisions and strategic direction.
  • Oversee cash flow management, including daily monitoring and monthly forecasting.
  • Lead accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with GAAP.
  • Manage multi-state weekly payroll for over 450 employees, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Lead both internal and external audit processes and assist with tax preparation requirements.
  • Guide and mentor accounting staff, the HR Manager, and the Consultant Services Director.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports for quarterly board meetings.
  • Lead or support special projects as assigned, driving value-added initiatives and operational improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification is preferred.
  • Proven experience in a corporate controller or similar role within a mid-sized organization.
  • Strong knowledge of construction and/or manufacturing operations.
  • Proficiency with intercompany transfers and multi-state operations.
  • Excellent skills in account reconciliation and balance sheet management.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience managing a team: accounting, payroll, and benefits.
