By helping shippers and carriers thrive, we believe in moving the industry forward. We are looking for a results-driven seasoned Corporate Controller to join our Finance & Accounting team. This position is crucial for leading and managing our Accounting, Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable, Billing, and Cash Applications teams. The ideal candidate will be an accounting and finance leader who loves to analyze data, improve processes, and mentor team members. This controller position will report directly to our Vice President of Finance. The Corporate Controller will oversee all aspects of the accounting department, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance. The role involves developing and implementing financial strategies to optimize the company's financial performance and support strategic objectives. The Corporate Controller will manage several direct reports and mentor a larger overall financial team of over 20 accounting and finance professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Collaboration with executive leadership to analyze financial data, identify trends, and make strategic recommendations for business improvement is also a key responsibility. In addition, the Corporate Controller will monitor and manage cash flow, working capital, and financial risk to ensure stability and growth. Leading the annual audit process and coordinating with external auditors to ensure accurate and timely completion of audits and financial reporting is essential. Staying updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in accounting and finance to ensure compliance and competitiveness is also part of the role. The Corporate Controller will drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage several direct reports and mentor a larger overall financial team of 20+ accounting & finance professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to analyze financial data, identify trends, and make strategic recommendations for business improvement.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow, working capital, and financial risk to ensure stability and growth.
  • Lead the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors to ensure accurate and timely completion of audits and financial reporting.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in accounting and finance to ensure compliance and competitiveness.
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Management of teams in Salt Lake City and support office in Mexico.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Extensive experience with AR/AP, billing, cash apps, cash reconciliation, financial reporting, monthly, quarterly and annually.
  • Accounting experience with revenues of $100M - $500M+.
  • Proven track record of driving financial performance, managing budgets, and implementing strategic initiatives.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software (Great Plains), ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
