About the position

Houlihan Lokey's Capital Markets Group is a dynamic and integral part of the firm, focusing on originating, structuring, and executing private and public debt and equity financings for corporate and private equity clients. The Financial Services & Structured Finance POD within this group specializes in assisting financial services companies in raising bespoke secured and unsecured financing, often involving niche business models and esoteric financial assets. This role provides an opportunity to work on a variety of transactions that utilize different financing products and techniques, including bank debt, senior loans, securitizations, second-lien debt, unitranche debt, mezzanine debt, and equity-linked securities. These transactions cater to various situations such as growth capital, leveraged buyouts (LBOs), acquisition financing, refinancings, dividend recapitalization, and special situations. As a Corporate Finance Analyst, you will collaborate closely with a talented team of senior professionals, gaining broad exposure to the multifaceted considerations that influence public and private debt and equity financings. You will assist in evaluating and structuring customized financing alternatives tailored to the needs of private equity and corporate clients. This role offers hands-on transaction experience, allowing you to play an integral part in deal teams from the initial pitch through to closing. You will develop essential corporate finance and valuation skills relevant to capital raising, including understanding rating agency methodologies for financial services companies and structured finance, while also building a comprehensive understanding of key developments in the debt and equity capital markets. Responsibilities

  • Work side-by-side with senior professionals to gain exposure to public and private debt and equity financings.
  • Assist with evaluating and structuring customized financing alternatives for private equity and corporate clients.
  • Play an integral role on deal teams from the initial pitch through closing, gaining hands-on transaction experience.
  • Develop corporate finance and valuation skills relevant to raising capital, including understanding rating agency methodologies.
  • Interact with various businesses across different financial services sub-industry verticals and clients with unique capital needs.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of relevant experience as an Analyst in investment banking, private equity, financial credit underwriting, debt structuring, syndication, or M&A.
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field.
  • Proven accounting, finance, financial modeling, and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff.
  • Strong work ethic and careful attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills and a proven self-starter.
