About the position

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission's Office of the Chief Information Officer is seeking an IT Project Manager to oversee and coordinate all project-related activities. This role involves defining project direction, setting goals, planning, allocating resources, monitoring progress, and engaging with stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily guidance, supervision, and coordination for all project-related activities.
  • Define project direction, set goals, and plan project resources.
  • Estimate, allocate, and assign resources for projects.
  • Monitor project progress and report on status.
  • Resolve project-related issues and engage with key stakeholders.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of PMO processes and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with project leaders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Create and maintain project plans that communicate tasks, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Manage project scope, budget, schedule, communications, risks, and issues following PMI standards.
  • Serve as vendor liaison and Contract Administrator for enterprise Technology contracts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Management Systems, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Four years of progressively responsible information technology experience.
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) certification or other related certification.
  • Proven familiarity with software-based project management and presentation applications.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to collaborate with stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is highly desired.
  • Proven track record of success in multiple complex projects.
  • Strong process definition skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to interface with and influence people at all levels within the organization.
