HII - America's largest shipbuilder and a global, all-domain defense provider - is offering an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Legal Intern for the summer of 2025 at our office in Fairfax, Virginia. This internship is designed for students currently enrolled in a Juris Doctorate program at an accredited law school. The internship will last a minimum of 10 weeks and will provide students with hands-on experience in various areas including business, finance, information technology, and legal and government affairs. Interns will have the chance to support the leaders who are driving the future of HII, gaining valuable insights into the operations of a major defense contractor. As a Legal summer intern, you will be involved in a variety of tasks that will enhance your understanding of the legal field within a corporate environment. You will attend Law Department staff meetings, review Teaming Agreements and Nondisclosure Agreements, and conduct legal research. This research will include preparing memoranda and other documents on topics related to Government contracting, compliance, the Civil False Claims Act, and Government Ethics issues. Additionally, you will attend meetings with business units and outside counsel, support internal investigations, and assist with employment and other litigation matters. The internship aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the duties of in-house counsel at a publicly traded company, equipping you with the knowledge and skills necessary for a successful legal career.
