As a Payroll Specialist in the Payroll Department, you will play a crucial role in maintaining payroll systems and ensuring that paychecks are processed accurately and on schedule. Your primary responsibilities will include consolidating timesheet information, entering data into payroll databases, calculating paycheck amounts, and distributing funds to employee accounts. You will be tasked with preparing and maintaining payroll files within the payroll system, running and reviewing reports for accuracy before payroll is transmitted, and producing manual checks when necessary. Additionally, you will calculate and compile medical benefit deductions and other earnings, research and resolve employee payroll discrepancies, and interact with employees and management on payroll-related projects and inquiries. Your role will also involve tracking and monitoring field performance across key payroll elements, understanding and interpreting wage garnishments, child support, and levy orders, and processing them accordingly. You will investigate, locate, and resolve the causes of misdirected checks, update the system or notify the appropriate party of corrections, and audit payroll for processing errors. Managing all timecards and time clock inquiries will also be part of your responsibilities, along with performing other duties as assigned by management. You will be expected to provide timekeeping training as needed.
