As a Corporate Purchasing Manager at Smithfield Foods, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and purchasing packaging and ingredients essential for our operations. This position is responsible for managing the supply base for both direct and indirect purchases, ensuring that all procurement activities are conducted at the lowest total cost while maintaining high standards of quality and on-time delivery. You will be tasked with monitoring and reporting pricing trends, implementing checks and balances to minimize errors, and achieving accuracy in inventory management. Your responsibilities will include data collection for Requests for Quotation (RFQ) and Requests for Proposal (RFP), as well as directing and influencing multi-functional departments to agree on cost-saving projects that lead to the tactical implementation of sourcing awards. You will also assess vendor-managed inventory levels, review aging materials, and evaluate vendors and materials to support new product innovations. Key performance indicators will be your responsibility, along with driving value and supply chain improvements, including presenting revenue enhancement ideas. In addition, you will manage pricing and contracts in coordination with Strategic Sourcing contracts and enforce Purchasing Policies and Procedures. This role requires strong leadership skills as you will provide guidance to corporate buyers, carry out supervisory responsibilities, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws. You will also be expected to communicate effectively with peers and executive leadership, presenting information clearly and persuasively.
