About the position

The Corporate Purchasing Manager at Smithfield Farmland Sales Corp is responsible for overseeing the procurement of packaging and ingredients, managing the supply base for both direct and indirect purchases, and ensuring cost-effective purchasing practices. This role focuses on maintaining quality, on-time delivery, and effective inventory control while monitoring pricing trends and implementing cost-saving initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and purchase packaging and ingredients.
• Manage the supply base for direct and indirect purchases.
• Ensure purchasing at the lowest total cost.
• Provide on-time delivery, quality, and inventory control.
• Monitor and report pricing trends.
• Maintain checks and balances to reduce errors and achieve accuracy in inventory.
• Collect data for Request for Quotation (RFQ) and Request for Proposal (RFP).
• Direct and influence multi-functional departments on cost savings projects.
• Make recommendations on vendor managed inventory levels.
• Assess aging materials and review obsolete material for disposition.
• Evaluate and approve vendors/materials for new product innovation.
• Responsible for key performance indicators.
• Implement value and supply chain improvements.
• Manage new item setup and system management.
• Oversee pricing and contract management in coordination with Strategic Sourcing contracts.
• Implement and enforce Purchasing Policy and Procedures.

Requirements

• Proven experience in purchasing and supply chain management.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to monitor pricing trends.
• Experience with vendor management and inventory control.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multi-functional teams.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in the food industry or packaged meats sector.
• Familiarity with RFQ and RFP processes.
• Knowledge of strategic sourcing and contract management.
