About the position

As a Corporate Safety Trainer at Fabick Cat, your primary responsibility will be to design, develop, and deliver comprehensive safety training programs aimed at ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees within the organization. This role is crucial in fostering a culture of safety and compliance, and it involves collaborating with various departments to identify specific safety training needs. You will create engaging training materials and conduct training sessions that are informative and effective. Additionally, you will evaluate the effectiveness of these training programs and make necessary adjustments to meet regulatory compliance and organizational safety goals. In your role, you will be responsible for developing safety training programs that align with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and the specific needs of the organization. This includes creating training materials, presentations, and resources that effectively communicate safety procedures and guidelines. You will also assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans, which may include evacuation procedures, first aid/CPR training, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures. Your training delivery will involve conducting engaging and informative safety training sessions for employees at various levels and locations within the organization. You will utilize a variety of training methods, including presentations, workshops, hands-on exercises, and simulations, to enhance learning and retention. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with the safety team, technical training team, department heads, and other stakeholders to ensure that training programs are accurate and up-to-date. Staying informed about relevant safety regulations and standards is essential to ensure that training programs align with legal requirements. You will monitor changes in regulations and update training materials accordingly. Furthermore, you will develop and implement methods to assess the effectiveness of safety training programs, collecting feedback from participants and stakeholders to identify areas for improvement. Documentation is another critical aspect of your role. You will maintain accurate records of training sessions, attendance, and evaluations using the company Learning Management System (LMS). Additionally, you will prepare reports on training effectiveness and compliance for management and regulatory purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop safety training programs based on regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and organizational needs.
  • Create training materials, presentations, and resources to effectively communicate safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of programs such as emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, first aid / CPR training, LOTO, etc.

  • Work closely with the safety team, technical training team, department heads, and other stakeholders to identify specific safety training needs.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accurate and up-to-date content in training programs.
  • Stay informed about relevant safety regulations and standards to ensure that training programs align with legal requirements.
  • Monitor changes in regulations and update training materials accordingly.
  • Develop and implement methods to assess the effectiveness of safety training programs.
  • Collect feedback from participants and stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and make necessary adjustments to training content and delivery methods.
  • Maintain accurate records of training sessions, attendance, and evaluations utilizing the company LMS system.
  • Prepare reports on training effectiveness and compliance for management and regulatory purposes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, education, or a related field.
  • 2 years of Safety training experience, preferably at least 4 years of experience in a related industry.
  • Experience with the heavy machine industry preferred.
  • Experience with writing and implementing health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment.
  • Certificates in Occupational Health and Safety preferred (CSP, OSHA Outreach Trainer, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA 1910 & MSHA) and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to adapt training techniques to meet the needs of diverse audiences.
  • Organizational and documentation skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other business software applications is required.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time within Fabick's region.
