About the position

The Corporate Security Officer is responsible for overseeing the physical security of a financial institution, ensuring the safety of employees and assets. This role involves administering security strategies, conducting investigations, and maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The officer will also provide training, assess security measures at various branches, and respond to security incidents, including bank robberies.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the corporate security strategy ensuring compliance with security goals stated in the corporate security program.
  • Assess branch and Operations center adherence to corporate security programs and procedures.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance.
  • Administer all aspects of the physical security program, including maintaining security devices and access control.
  • Provide executive protection and minimize threats to senior management.
  • Communicate with management, ATM service vendors, and guard service companies regarding security matters.
  • Direct armed and unarmed security guards to ensure compliance with corporate security policies.
  • Respond to bank robbery calls and provide training on proper procedures for such incidents.
  • Conduct interviews and investigations related to workplace violence and internal inquiries.
  • Travel to proposed branch locations for preliminary security assessments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred.
  • Five years or more of Physical/Corporate Security/Safety experience.
  • Three years' experience with financial institution operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of security systems and procedures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) certification.
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification.
  • Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) certification.
