The Corporate Senior Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Analyst will be responsible for overseeing the annual beginning balance process, monthly journal entry preparation, and monthly inventory and OPACC reporting packages. Additional responsibilities include support of enterprise accountable methodology and analysis, and review of certain externally reported information, including the quarterly earnings release and elements of the 10-Q/10-K. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your work will be highly visible at all levels of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and executing the annual beginning balance process
  • Financial accounting, including preparation of journal entries and segment footnote disclosures for Caterpillar SEC filings
  • Prepare key monthly reporting packages for management
  • Help maintain the reporting methodologies for Caterpillar's segment reporting
  • Drive improvements and efficiencies in financial analysis and reporting processes
  • Partner across the enterprise to support key projects related to Global Finance strategy initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree within Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports
  • Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material
  • Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision
  • Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems
  • Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors
