About the position

Chiquita is currently seeking a Corporate Tax Accountant to join the North American Tax Team. This position is crucial for supporting our tax operations within the US, and we are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to perform a variety of functions. The Corporate Tax Accountant will report directly to the Global Head of Tax and will be responsible for providing tax support to the North American Tax Team on local tax compliance, managing state tax audits, and staying updated on tax legislative changes. The role also involves working on existing and new business initiatives, business restructurings, and international tax aspects. This position is 100% onsite and located in Dania Beach, Florida. The responsibilities of the Corporate Tax Accountant include supporting the preparation, review, filing, and payment of US federal, state direct, and international tax compliance processes. This includes working with various tax forms such as 1120, 5471, 5472, 8865, and 8892. The accountant will utilize Thomson Reuters's OneSource platform for efficient tax compliance management and assist in the preparation of the global tax provision, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations. Collaboration with internal stakeholders is essential to gather necessary information for tax compliance processes. The accountant will also need to stay updated with changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and identify potential tax planning opportunities. Additionally, the role involves assisting in tax audits and inquiries, providing necessary documentation and support as required, and identifying areas for process improvement to streamline tax compliance processes. Ad hoc tax projects may also be required as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation, review, filing, and payment of US federal, state direct, and international tax compliance processes.
  • Utilize Thomson Reuters's OneSource platform for efficient tax compliance management.
  • Assist in the preparation of the global tax provision, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather necessary information for tax compliance processes.
  • Stay updated with changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and identify potential tax planning opportunities.
  • Assist in tax audits and inquiries, providing necessary documentation and support as required.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement enhancements to streamline tax compliance processes.
  • Conduct ad hoc tax projects as required or as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or advanced degree preferred.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in tax accounting or related field, preferably in a multinational corporation or public accounting firm with multinational clients, or a master's degree and three (3) years of professional experience.
  • Sound technical knowledge and practical experience dealing with US federal and international tax issues for multinational corporations.
  • Experience using Thomson Reuters's OneSource platform or similar tax compliance software.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail and ability to research tax law and apply relevant tax law to specific fact patterns.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and 'hands-on' environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proactive mindset with a continuous improvement orientation.
