About the position

We are currently seeking a Corporate Trainer, Development, who will advance the institution's proud tradition of excellence in academics, student life, and community service. The Corporate Trainer will be an innovative instructor comfortable in both classroom and corporate settings. HCC's Corporate College is responsive to community needs and drives local economic development by providing customized business and industry instruction with on-site workforce training. The Corporate College offers high-quality, competitively priced, and relevant solutions, with classes scheduled during the day, at night, or on weekends, either at the client's worksite, online, or at one of our world-class facilities. In this role, you will be responsible for providing training tailored to meet HCC clients' needs and objectives, particularly in employee development, customer service, and other human resource issues. Your work will begin with assessing the client's business training needs in conjunction with Corporate College staff. Based on this assessment, you will develop and deliver training in one- to three-day classroom formats, utilizing texts, handouts, class exercises, and assessment tools. You will actively seek ways to improve instruction and continuously update and revise course content and teaching methodology to maintain relevancy. The Corporate Trainer will also be responsible for developing training material according to the needs of a Corporate College client using an approved course syllabus. This includes preparing training content for designated clients and topics using standard lesson plans and syllabi, customizing training content and format to fit client objectives, and maintaining familiarity with current texts, materials, teaching aids, and techniques relevant to the courses within the discipline. You will attend scheduled meetings with clients and Corporate College as requested, including Adjunct Faculty Orientation, to ensure alignment and effectiveness in training delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Assess training needs for clients in conjunction with Corporate College staff.
  • Prepare training content for designated client and topic using standard lesson plans and syllabi.
  • Customize training content and format to fit client's objectives.
  • Research, create handouts, and bind training manuals as part of the training curriculum development process.
  • Update and revise course content and teaching methodology to maintain currency and relevance.
  • Maintain familiarity with current texts, materials, teaching aids, and techniques relative to courses within the discipline.
  • Actively seek ways to improve instruction.
  • Attend scheduled meetings with clients and Corporate College as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Training, or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Four (4) years directly related work experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Community college, university teaching, or corporate training experience is highly desired.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of demonstrated, subject-related industry experience required.
  • Up to three (3) years experience working in HCC, conducting corporate training preferred.
  • Knowledge of learning theory and motivational, perceptual, and emotional forces present in the learning process.
  • Knowledge of theories of leadership and alternative techniques for guiding and motivating individuals.
  • Ability to use current technology and contribute innovative ideas for new curricula and programs.

  • Licenses and certificates related to specific disciplines preferred.
  • Experience in customizing training content and format to fit client's objectives.
  • Ability to produce professional quality handouts and presentations.
